free. All the ones I checked were offered for free download in PDF, but
download and viewing options may vary as these are links offsite. Also
a section on Art History.
Smashwords has a large collection of free writings in its History (nonfiction) category. These vary from short stories to novels. All are available in a wide variety of download formats for free, including PDF, EPUB, MOBI (Kindle) and LIT. Registratiopn is not required to download.
Snick's List monitors Amazon (USA) for limited time free ebook offerings and has the nice feature of separate genre listings for these free ebooks. This link is to the History genre free offerings.
